Smartphones aren’t an accessory for real estate agents; they’ve become a necessity. However, having the device is only half the battle. To make the most of your phone, you need the apps that turn it into a real business tool.

Check out this list of must-have Android apps for impressing your clients and taking the paper out of a few important processes:

1. Share Room Layouts and Measurements With D-measures

D-Measures is a great app for Android users who want to give clients real context when it comes to room and home size. With the app, agents can take measurements of rooms within their listing and mark them up to show real measurements. D-Measures is available for free in the Google play.

2. E-mail and Text Hands-Free With Dragon Dictation

Newer Androids are starting to come with voice dictation, but those who have an older device can easily add the feature with an app called Dragon Dictation. Dragon Dictation transcribes anything you can speak and allows you to easily send it as a text message or e-mail without touching your device.

3. Track and Report Vehicle Use With TripLog

One of the most commonly missed (or miscalculated) tax deductions in real estate is the vehicle mileage deduction. TripLog helps agents by automatically tracking an agent’s mileage while he or she is driving. In addition, the app also tracks fuel ups and other expenses to give you an idea of how much moving around town is really costing you.

TripLog is available for free in the Android market place.

4. Calculate Mortgage Payments With the 12C SE Financial Calculator

Recommended by the American Association of Individual Invertors, the 12C SE Financial Calculator is a great tool for calculating the real costs and payments of high-dollar loans over time. Use this to give clients a real estimate of mortgage payments and pass it along so they can run their own scenarios on how much house they can really afford in today’s market.

There’s a demo version of 12C SE Financial Calculator for free in the Android marketplace. The full version of the app will cost you $4.99.

5. Track and Display Your Time With the Harvest Mobile App

Last but not least, here’s a great app for showing clients you’re worth your commission (and likely more). Harvest mobile app helps you clock your time working on a task or project with just a few clicks.

This is great for tracking how much work went into a transaction or for time-tracking any consulting work you might be doing on the side.

The Android version of Harvest is available for free in the Google Play Marketplace .

6. Get Instant Lead Notifications with the Trulia for Agents App

In the spirit of productivity on the fly, the Trulia for Agents App push gives you access to new and old lead information via your handset, including any call recordings and prequalification data already stored in your Trulia inbox.

User Tip: After you get the app, go through and quickly mark your most important leads as hot leads with the fire icon. This will make it easier to see when messages come in from your priority prospects and clients.

Here our six from a few app addicts, what would you add to the list?
